PGA TOUR: PODS Championship
With 5 players having a share of the lead during the final round it was anyone's to win and it all came down to a
4 footer on the final green. After squeezing into the final two rounds Mark Calcavecchia shot a course record 62
in the third round to take the lead into the final 18 holes. Calcavecchia stretched his lead to as many as 3 at
one point, but as the rest closed in his lead was only one playing the last. A poor second shot resulted in a bogey
after he missed his 7 foot par putt to finish on 10 under-par 274. That left playing partner Heath Slocum needing to
2 putt the last for par to force a play-off. Slocum left his first putt 4 feet short and then watched as his par
putt lipped out to hand Calcavecchia his 13th win on the PGA Tour. The short missed putt meant Slocum finished tied
second with John Senden.
EUROPEAN TOUR: Clariden Leu Singapore Masters
On a final day when it looked like no one wanted to win, it came down to a play-off and even then it was thrown
away. Nick Dougherty had the first chance to win and after 4 birdies on his back nine took the lead only to double
bogey both the 16th and 17th holes to fall away. Chinese Liang Wen-chong was next to make a double bogey at the
15th, but hung in there to finish on 11 under-par 277. That didn't look like it would be enough until Malaysian Ian
Steel double bogeyed the 16th and ended up tied with Liang. Both players went back to the 18th to find a winner and
with Liang finding dry land, Steel drove into the water to end his hopes of a first win on tour. Liang was able to
par the hole to secure the victory and become only the second Chinese player to win on the European Tour.
LPGA TOUR: Mastercard Classic
With bad weather playing havoc with the event all week it was no surprise that it played its part during Sunday's
play too. The second round was completed on Sunday morning and the final round was scheduled to start early that
afternoon, but the weather had other ideas and after 2 suspensions for more bad weather the event was forced to call
play for the day and force a Monday finish. Meaghan Francella leads by one from Stacy Prammanasudh with a bunch of
players tucked in behind.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: Toshiba Classic
Jay Haas entered the final round with a 1 shot lead and despite many challenges during the final round was able to
hang on to claim a 2 shot victory over a late charging R.W. Eaks. Haas had increased his lead to three after a
birdie at the 7th, but a dropped shot at the next looked to have given the others hope. Haas quickly closed the door
on that with 4 consecutive birdies from the 9th to all but secure the victory. Eaks made a late charge with 3
birdies in his final 4 holes, but it was not enough as Haas closed out the event with 3 straight pars to finish on a
tournament record 19 under-par 194 total.
EUROPEAN CHALLENGE TOUR: Tusker Kenya Open
Italian Eduardo Molinari entered the final round with a 3 shot lead and looked to be on his way to an easy victory
after the first 6 holes, but golf is never that easy. Three holes later after a run of bogey, double bogey, bogey
Molinari had lost his lead and was 1 back of South African James Kamte. A birdie at the 11th tied Molinari with
Kamte at the top of the leader board as the 2 battled it out over the back nine. Molinari regained his lead with a
tap in birdie at the 17th after an amazing second shot from a bad lie next to a bush. Kamte had no answer and after
he parred the par 5 18th, Molinari knew a par of his own was good enough for victory. After finding the green with
his second shot, Molinari 3 putted from 50 feet for the par he needed to finish on 6 under-par 274 and claim his
second win on the Challenge Tour in 2007.
