EUROPEAN TOUR: Irish Open
Third round leader Padraig Harrington had moved 4 clear going into the final holes, but Welshman Bradley Dredge had not given
up and after a birdie at the 15th had got within one of Harrington. A bogey on 16 by Dredge gave Harrington a 2 shot lead once
more, but back came Dredge with another birdie at the 17th after a superb approach to inside 2 feet. Harrington though missed
the green and was unable to get up and down to save par and so both men headed to the 18th tied. After parring the last both
men had finished on 5 under-par 283 and a play-off was needed. Back to 18 they went and this time Dredge found a difficult
lie after his second shot and from there found the water hazard with his third. Harrington safely cleared the water with his
third and was able to make par to secure the first home triumph in 25 years.
PGA TOUR: AT&T Classic Master's
Champion Zack Johnson and Japan's Ryuji Imada found themselves tied for the lead and 2 clear of the rest of the field going
into the final couple of holes. Johnson playing in front of Imada hit his second on the par 5 18th over the water to the back
of the green and was able to 2 putt for birdie to move 1 clear. At the same time though Imada had a 7 foot birdie putt on 17
to tie but the young player left his putt short and left. Now needing a birdie to tie Imada hit his second shot over the green
on 18, but played a superb chip shot to a couple of feet and tapped in for his own birdie to tie Johnson on 15 Under-par 273
and force extra holes. Johnson found the fairway on 18 in the play-off as Imada hit his tee shot into the left rough. Imada
went for the green with a 3 wood but came up a few feet short as his ball found the water. Johnson was then able to clear the
water with his second and found the green again. Imada hit a great 4th shot to set up a par saving putt, but Johnson didn't
give him that chance and rolled his eagle putt down to a few inches and tapped in for the win, his third on the PGA Tour and
third in the State of Georgia.
LPGA TOUR: Sybase Classic
World number one Lorena Ochoa started the final round 2 back of Korean Sarah Lee, but after Lee bogeyed the second and Ochoa
birdied the 5th both players were tied and Ochoa seized her chance. With back to back birdies on 8 and 9 Ochoa moved 2 clear
and Lee had no answer. Ochoa after her final birdie at the 11th was able to par her way home over the closing holes to finish
on 18 under-par 270 and record a 3 shot victory over Lee.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: Regions Charity Classic
Brad Bryant and R.W. Eaks started the final round 5 back of the lead, but both men shot through the field with closing
rounds of 7 under-par 65's to end the day tied with each other, but this time for the lead at 12 under-par 204. A play-off was
needed and both players parred the first 2 extra holes and so they went back again to play the long par 18th for the 4th time
that day. Eaks found the back edge of the green with his second as Bryant hit a great approach to 13 feet. Eaks was able to 2
putt for par, but Bryant rolled his birdie putt in to retain the title he won last year, also with a come from behind victory.
EUROPEAN CHALLENGE TOUR: Telenet Trophy
Playing on home soil and with the home crowd behind him Belgium's Nicolas Vanhootegem started the final round with a 2 shot
lead. Fourteen pars later Vanhootegem still had the lead as none of his closest challengers could put any pressure on him.
Vanhootegem finally broke his streak of pars with a birdie at the par 3 15th that all but secured the win. Chilean Felipe
Aguilar birdied the final two holes, but it was not enough as Vanhootegem ended things in style with a birdie on eighteen to
finish on 17 under-par 271 and win by 4 from Aguilar.
NATIONWIDE TOUR: BMW Charity Pro-Am
After winning 3 weeks ago Australian Nick Flanagan had taken two weeks off back home in Australia and it did not seem to have
affected his golf game. In an amazing finish Flanagan birdied 6 of his final 8 holes, including the final 3 to shoot a 7
under-par 65 and claim a 1 shot victory over Nicholas Thompson, who himself had shot a final round 64. Overnight leader
Richard Johnson was still in the hunt, but a double bogey 7 at the par 5 13th ended his hopes. Flanagan finished on 15
under-par 271 and now needs only one more victory this season to get an instant move up to the PGA Tour.
