EUROPEAN TOUR: HSBC World Match Play Championship
Paul Casey produced some stunning golf to win with a tournament record 10&8 victory over American golfer Shaun Micheel in
the 36 hole final. Micheel who had earlier in the week knocked out Tiger Woods was only 1 down after 15 holes in the
morning, but lost 2 of the last 3 holes to go into lunch 3 down. Casey never gave him a chance in the afternoon and
5 up as they reached the 6th hole. From there Casey won the next 5 holes to claim victory and the £1 million first
prize.
PGA TOUR: 84 Lumber Classic
Ben Curtis claimed a 2 shot victory over Charles Howell III to claim his second win on the PGA Golf Tour this year.
Curtis was only one clear as the pair reached the 15th hole, but there Curtis would make birdie as Howell 3 putted
for bogey. Now 3 in front, Curtis all but secured victory when he rolled in a 50 foot birdie putt on the 16th to
stay 3 clear. Despite a bogey at the par 3 17th Curtis was able to par the last to finish on a winning 14 under-par
274 total.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: Constellation Energy Classic
Bob Gilder successfully defended the title he won last year when he came from 3 shots back to win by two from Brad
Bryant, Don Pooley and Jay Haas. At one point in the final round there was a 6 way tie for the lead but Gilder
birdied the 10th to take the lead for good. Three more birdies followed to keep the challengers at bay and Gilder
closed out with 2 pars to finish on 14 under-par 202 and his first win on tour this year.
NATIONWIDE TOUR: Albertson Boise Open
Kevin Stadler claimed a 1 shot victory over Glen Day to claim his second win on the Nationwide Golf Tour this year and
also secure his PGA Tour card for next year. After getting up and down to save par on 12, 13 and 14, Stadler then
reeled off 3 birdies in a row from the 15th to take the lead before a par at the last gave him a 20 under-par 264
total and that all important one shot clear of Day.
EUROPEAN CHALLENGE TOUR: Open Des Volcans
German golfer Martin Kaymer strolled to a 6 shot victory over Frenchman Michael Lorenzo-Vera to take his second tournament
title in only his 4th event as a professional. Kaymer had opened up a 4 shot lead after the first 3 rounds and no
one looked like they were ever going to catch him. Three birdies and three bogeys during the final round were good
enough to give Kaymer a winning 13 under-par 271 total in this remarkable start as a professional golfer.
