No matter how many courses you have played, chances are you have never stepped onto a course this old. For over 125 years
people have been playing golf at Gullane Golf Club. Boasting three different traditional Scottish links courses, this club
will amaze and challenge you at the same time.
Even though Gullane Golf Club is only 125 years old, people have been playing golf on Gullane links for over 300 years.
This could be the reason this club has been chosen time and time again to host international championship events. Events
such as the Scottish Amateur Championship, Open Championship Qualifying, Seniors Open Amateur and the European Boys Team
Championships have been held here year after year.
The three courses at Gullane Golf Club do not have names but instead numbers that reflect their age. The Gullane No. 1
Course was established in 1884 and offers 18 holes of scenic but challenging golf. From the 7th tee you can look across
the course and over to Edinburgh Fife. The numerous bunkers and sea breeze require the utmost precision in every shot.
Built in 1898, Gullane No. 2 Course is the second oldest at Gullane Golf Club. While you will not need a good driver on
this course, exact club selection will be required to make a good score on the shorter holes. For the nature enthusiasts,
this course boarders the nature reserve on Aberlady Bay providing for some magnificent views.
Fairly young by Scottish standards, Gullane No. 3 course might still be the oldest course you have ever played. Built in
1910, this course combines the best aspects of the first two courses. Accurate shot placement is a requirement. However,
this is made more difficult by the views across Aberlady Bay to Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth.
Although the meticulously maintained courses match those of a private course, visitors are welcome at Gullane Golf Club.
In fact, feel fee to use all of the club's facilities including the practice area. Also, quickly becoming a luxury at most
other clubs, there is always a caddy available to guide you through the tricky holes.
Nearby accommodations can be found at the Gullane Golf Inn.
